The story of Chaumet, the first Parisian jeweler to open on the Place Vendôme, began in 1780. Founded by Marie-Étienne Nitot, Chaumet very quickly became official jeweler to Empress Joséphine and the First French Empire.

For more than 240 years, Chaumet’s craftsmanship has been passed down from generation to generation, from artisan to artisan. The brand excels in crafting premium diamonds and color gemstones of all shapes and sizes, notably pear-shaped gemstones, with workshops of highly specialized artisans. Since 1780, Chaumet has crafted more than 3,500 tiaras – “crowns of love” – along with countless masterpieces of high jewelry and watches.

The Beating Heart: 12 Place Vendôme

“A capital within the capital”, 12 Place Vendôme is the beating heart of mythical Paris. The address chosen by Joseph Chaumet in 1907 is today not only the brand’s headquarters, boutique and workshop, but also a true cultural epicenter. The building also includes many Salons and Grand Salons with classic French architectural and interior styles, displaying the most unique creations.
